"Colorado River" 1927, Woodcut. Edition size: As stated in Duffy and Duffy (1984:62) the edition was to be 50 prints, however only 40 were printed. Signed in soft pencil, Howard Cook imp., lower right. No edition statement. Title in far left margin corner, Colorado River, this appears to be a hand other than the artists (also titled in Duffy and Duffy 1984:62, 43). Comment: For those unfamiliar with the abbreviation imp. it means "impressit," latin for "printed by."
Image: 14 1/16 x 8 1/8 inches (360 x 216 mm.). Sheet: 17 3/8 x 10 3/4 inches (441 x 273 mm).
Reference: Duffy and Duffy 1984:62, 43.

COMMENTS:
Excellent condition, all over, with the exception of two horizontal indention's at the bottom of the sheet. Two vertical indention's are seen from the bottom sheet edge to where the printing block begins (see images). Our assumption is that these marks are the product of Howard Cook's printing press. Both are of the same length and depth and both stop where the block begins. Cook signed over the one on the right evidently disregarding their presence. The current mat covers these marks making them irrelevant when matted and framed.
