In the late 1990's, when American potter Ed Scheier could no longer work with clay, due to heart problems, but feeling the need to create, he did the logical thing, he bought a computer. Working with a computer sketch pad and a color printer, Edwin began to make a different kind of art. Working alone, asking few questions of others, experimenting all the time, he began to create remarkable printed images. If you know Ed and Mary Scheier's pottery then you will recognize that the iconography of these prints flow almost directly from designs used when decorating pottery. And like his pottery no two are the same. For persons interested in more information on Ed and his wife Mary I would suggest viewing the PBS documentary "Four Hands, One Heart: Ed and Mary Scheier" written and directed by Ken Browne.
